Monitoring is being used to check the extent to which actions contribute to the goals formulated in the Water Framework Directive.
Both the environmental impact and the socio-economic impact are being evaluated. As well as the existing operational monitoring, additional monitoring is being developed to follow up on a number of specific actions in detail.
- A ‘rain path’ has been started to harvest flexible samples in order to investigate the effects of run-off road on the water quality of water courses in the Dyle and Zenne catchments.
- Eight multi-parameter probes have been purchased to examine levels of pH, conductivity, turbidity and oxygen.
- In the newly developed water catchment areas, intensive monitoring of the biodiversity has begun.
