In 2019, we commissioned a temporary flood plain in the heart of the nature reserve in the Coeurcq Valley with Life Belini. In cooperation with LIFE BNIP, we also improved biodiversity. We celebrated this with the official inauguration of the nature reserve on October, 1st 2023
After the realization of the flood plain, another LIFE project, LIFE BNIP, took over. The area underwent major ecological restoration works including the creation of ponds, planting of hedgerows, shelters for amphibians and reptiles, etc. These works enhance the value of the valley on a European scale. The town of Tubize signed an agreement that creates a nature reserve “Val de Coeurcq” that will be owned and maintained by the non-profit organization Natagora.
The restoration works and new ecological facilities of the LIFE BNIP project were recently completed. The nature reserve was inaugurated and opened to the public on Sunday, October 1st, 2023. The Belini team was present in the field to explain the role of the temporary immersion zone, which is located at the heart of the reserve, in flood control.
Visitors can now stroll through the reserve and discover its biodiversity while reading the many educational panels along the way.
